Flashtastic.
I’ve been writing simple Macromedia Flash MX programs exploring some cellular automata from Stephen Wolfram’s A New Kind of Science.
Anyway, these are three of the more interesting results.
To see my inspiration, check out page 157 of NKS online — Wolfram has the whole tome up for free, now.

Object Consumption

Yeah, I did. And I don't know Flash well enough to streamline my graphics code, so I used a graphic object for each pixel.
Any suggestions for speeding up the rendering of graphics like this? After a couple of hundred objects Flash begins to rattle and blow gaskets and grind to a near-halt.
Code?

Could you put up the Flash source? Its been years since I touched Flash, but I'm curious to see what you did.

hi. is it possible to make an Automaton simulator to test whether a given string is accepted or not in Flash MX? an example of the program looks like the one on the link http://ozark.hendrix.edu/~burch/proj/autosim/
which is written in Java.
i am trying to implement one in Flash MX but i'm having a hard time. please reply back to my e-mail for any comments about this. thank you
