Satellite image of Israel and the northern Sinai penninsula region of Egypt.
The division manager has given the thumbs up and the tix have been purchased, so I guess it’s for real: Next Friday, February 18th, I’m leaving Austin for Tel Aviv, Israel.
I’ll touch-down at Ben-Gurion International Airport Sunday morning at about 1:30am. For religious reasons they work Sunday through Thursday, so I’ll start that same morning and work through the week at the Tel Aviv office.
Then I’ve got a week of vacation time to trek about the country. So far Jerusalen (of course), Haifa, the stomping grounds of Mr. Christ Himself Nazareth and the Lake Tiberias area, and the Negev desert part of the country (including little Eilat and the Dead Sea) seem the most interesting. If you enjoy history, you really can’t get bored in Israel…
Then I’ll be back in Austin on Sunday, March 6th.
Very exciting!

Whoah. When did this get decided?
You gonna go see Sarah?
In the works...

It's been in the works for a few weeks, but the exact dates were set just a few days ago.
I hadn't really planned on seeing Sarah, but if you have contact info for her I might give it a shot. (Don't post that info here -- e-mail me.)
Yeah, but looking forward to it very much.

I don't have contact info, but her mom teaches in the math dept. at UT (her dad does too) so you could find her email. Or someone who keeps in touch with Rose would know.
So WHY again? You didn't explain that.

Why? We have a couple teams in Israel and I'm going over to help them build their software interfaces. Probably shouldn't go into much detail about it on a public weblog, but that's the gist.
Ooh, and it looks like I'll be staying here: inisrael.com/renaissancetlv/.
Sexy.
