Went there this past weekend and It was really great. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff is very helpful. The menu is limited but the food is well prepared and good. It allows for good conversation and at times you can even study here. I recommend this place.

Time is moneyPosted by Steph at 9:19pm July 28, 2007 Flag This

Yes, the charm and potential is fading fast with no service staff and a pretentious new owner.

Food Service. I worked there for two weeks and COULD NOT GET MY PAY. That may be the reason why the food service is slow. Why can't people pay you what they owe you. The food service industry is hard hard work. Pay me what you owe me. And believe me there is so much more about Soloman's.
Their greedy what a bee's.

A more accurate assessmentPosted by Mr. at 09:32am February 04, 2007 Flag This

To be accurate, what happens is the artists, usually gay, come to a formerly crime ridden neighborhood where no property is treated with any respect, fix up their places, mix with other ethnicities (usually with other artist and gay people), and then when crime goes down, in come what are now called hipsters--trust fund babies who wear faux second hand clothes. Yuppies are too rich for here.

This white people stay out crap goes a long way toward dividing out town.

If you want to keep out the yuppies, that's one thing. EVERYBODY hates them.

WHITE PEOPLE - STAY OUT!!!!!!!!!!!Posted by Keith Robinson at 3:45pm January 11, 2007 Flag This

Sounds like a white person posted a nasty comment. Stay in your own damn neighborhood and you won't have worry about a "bad attitude"!!! I don't want to see you in our neighborhood anyway. You people make me sick! You're like roaches!! Everytime I move to a black area, here they come to raise the rent and bring their "entitlement attitude" with them. STAY in COBBLE HILL - PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE!

BOTHER. THE PLACE STILL HAS ITPosted by COLEMAN at 09:13am August 13, 2006 Flag This

This place is one of the better restaurants in Brooklyn. It has a limited menu, with the food well prepared. The wait staff is friendly and just causual enough. I havn't observed the owner dragging a fur around, but would not mind if she did as long as it's faux. (Actually, I don't know who the owner is.) The live jazz and other programs are excellent and they and the food do not cost an arm and two legs.
By all means, try Smith Street in Cobble Hill. However, once you have been to Solomon't Porch in Bedford-Stuyvesant you will return.

Don't Bother This place Lost itPosted by Anonymous at 2:33pm February 02, 2006 Flag This

As of the past six months this only eatery for a hike is slow slow slow and should really hire someone who knows something about food service or any kind of service. The charm and potential is fading fast with no service staff and a pretentious new owner who spends too much time on the phone or dragging her fur around. What was a nice place is a waste of time and money. Better off getting on the train and head toward smith street cobble hill for real service and good food without the long wait and bad attitude.
