Aussies Volley Bar & Grill

306 Barton Springs, 78704

Type: Restaurant Hours: 11-2 am - 7 days

Aussies is a great place to watch all sporting events with over 20 screens and NTN. Aussies also has great food and burgers. There are also several Beach Volley Leagues available on their two courts.

Aussie's food is HORRIBLE. I plan to build a volleybar in downtown Austin that will be much better than the frozen patties Aussie's half-cooks. Aussie's doesn't offer BBQ! The service is poor and the food is simply cheap and nasty. Further, there are only 2 courts. Roaches flourish beneath the outdoor deck (where the aroma of many bums' urine reside) and the smell of roaches (you know that smell) is present inside the restaraunt as well. This place is obviously run by an older person oblivious to details. I go here every week to watch my wife play vball so I'm forced to adjust to these conditions. That, as well as a rare, bloody burger (they don't ask how you want it cooked sometimes) is what gives me the idea to create a much better volleybar with much better food and many courts. Be on the lookout!

WiFi and a Patio

Its nice to be able to sit down and start surfing. Other restaurants supporting WiFi ask me to register w/ login info. I don't like the hassle. Aussies was quick and had a strong signal on the patio and in the restaurant.

Ick

Last time I ate there, I counted no fewer than 6 roaches running around the place. However, that was amost 2 years ago. But still.. Ick

while it may have 20 screens, there is virtually no WiFi bandwidth. It took about 3 minutes open the Yahoo home page. Dial up is considerably faster.
