One of my favorite placesPosted by Jon (www) at 2:06pm April 05, 2007 Flag This SpiderHouse is always one of my favorite hangouts in Austin, the wifi is slow - because there's always a lot of people on it. I don't think I've ever been there without running into someone I know (and I keep leaving Austin for parts unknown for years at a time - certainly not a regular!) homePosted by sarah at 09:46am September 08, 2006 Flag This text message home phone what is up?Posted by long walk at 02:41am February 02, 2006 Flag This Iím trying, but the coffee drinks are just crap here, WI-FI connections is next to none, and they seem to have hired the snootiest people for their staff but I guess they can get away with it since there is no competition close to them for now. Anyone knows of a better place, please post alternative. Otherwise I would have to go home and start saving for my own espresso machine and internet connection. Love it, but...Posted by Josh (www) at 00:28am January 11, 2006 Flag This Spider House is great, great, great -- I've been coming here for years. But. This new thing where you have to log back into their wifi system every hour: ANNOYING. What's the point? Just put a public hotspot up and leave it alone. Everyone's got to get so creative... WTFPosted by WTF at 03:11am January 04, 2006 Flag This WTF, this place is a crime, no internet connection rude staff and whatís with all the stains on the furniture. I think the only reason this place is busy is because of its location, I hate to say it but if there is any corner that needs a Starbucks its this one. Friendly TexanPosted by Friendly Texan at 01:15am December 04, 2005 Flag This After finding out the underhanded ways spider house tries to undermine other coffee shops (the latest being the way they tried to plant news in the daily Texan about other coffee shops going out of business) I urge everyone to boycott this place. first timePosted by joe at 1:54pm December 03, 2005 Flag This Tried for the first time, next to no Internet connection. Completely disgusting, rude staff will never return. AnnoyingPosted by Hugh (www) at 12:02am November 14, 2005 Flag This Like many places in Austin now, if you are not a regular or a trend setting puke you don't get service. This is of course you've fought to park. Then you have to put up with one of the slowest connectionin town. The owners also own I love viedo and are less to be desired. Network UpgradedPosted by Murray Freeman (www) at 09:28am October 14, 2005 Flag This Oct 13 2005 Network completely reworked and upgraded to 3 mbit/s download, still free, very reliable. ??Posted by Anonymous at 11:41pm September 18, 2005 Flag This wireless here is just slow and spotty. fun place to hang out .... but don't bank on the internet connection. World's Slowest ConnectionPosted by Josh (www) at 9:38pm August 23, 2005 Flag This The wifi is just about unusable tonight. So excessively slow. Is someone downloading gigs and gigs of porn somewhere, slowing the whole works down? Who knows. But this is quite frustrating... SUPER Crowded...Posted by Josh Knowles (www) at 5:35pm December 02, 2004 Flag This I love Spiderhouse, but they have a severe service problem right now. Seems like they always have lines going out the door with poor students waiting for their joe and cookie. It didn't used to be like this. Maybe I just hit it on the wrong days, but -- wow -- an extra service counter would probably rake in the cash. Too Crowded, Too TrendyPosted by Jen at 3:04pm October 08, 2004 Flag This THE PROS: good food, good selection of alcohol and coffees, interesting art & decor, good music [No title]Posted by Michael Wade at 3:49pm August 31, 2003 Flag This I have to say that SpiderHouse is a really cool place to hang out, write, listen to music and have some yummy veggie food. My only criticism (and this is my first time to be here) is that my connection to their wireless network is really slow. Maybe there are lots of people logged on, which might slow my connection down. But I only get two connection lights (and sometimes none). I'll definitely be coming back but I hope the network speed is an anomaly. [No title]Posted by Anonymous at 3:22pm July 12, 2003 Flag This Great connection, and a great coffeehouse that also serves beer! I'm posting this from Spiderhouse right now! The deck outside has power outlets under most of the tables lining the wall of the house--great for long-term sessions. But for the maximum SH experience (and less distraction from passers-by on the deck) you want to settle into one of the cozy, lumpy booths inside, or one of the canopied tables out under the trees. Yes it's true.Posted by JD at 5:13pm April 29, 2003 Flag This It's true. Spider House has wireless b & g as of April '03. It's Time Warner so it's pretty fast. I set it up - lemme know if you have any comments. !Posted by Josh Knowles (www) at 01:13am April 29, 2003 Flag This Really?! Finally! The lack of wireless access was just about all that was preventing me from completely moving into the place... Add a Comment |
