Austin Java Company 1206 Parkway, 78703 13 Comments Add Comment Flag This

Type: Restaurant Hours: M-F 7a-12a, Sa 8a-12a, Su 8a-11p

Despite the name, Austin Java Company does have a varied menu and great desserts. There's indoor and covered outdoor seating. Parking is a little tight, so be prepared to park on the street during busy times.

I enjoy grabbing breakfast on the weekends at Austin Java. http://fergilishes.blogspot.com/

Best Place to WiFi - Austin Chronicle Readers Poll '05Posted by Jonathan Cobb (www) at 11:45pm October 23, 2005 Flag This

Voted best place to WiFi in 2005. We experienced some interference issues at the beginning of the year but I got it fixed and now it's fast and rock solid. Would providing secure access be an attractive option were I to offer it at Austin Java? Mail me if you think so.

Very NicePosted by Josh (www) at 4:31pm August 11, 2005 Flag This

I've been away all summer, but the past few days everything's been great -- fast connection, available power outlets, good AC. Awesome.

new location open on Barton Springs rd next to shady grove!

More power outletsPosted by Dano at 3:08pm June 23, 2004 Flag This

To address another comment, they now have have several pairs of power outlets running along the south wall so each table along the wall can have its own power outlet. Also, the back patio has a power outlet at the bar.

Air conditioning fixedPosted by Dano at 3:04pm June 23, 2004 Flag This

Austin Java Co. has been under new management for several months and they have been doing a lot of work to fix the place up. To address the comment about the temperature made a while back, they have replaced their AC and it is quite cool inside now.

Bummed about their supposed new locationPosted by Fred at 10:33am May 14, 2004 Flag This

Supposedly they are opening right across the street from Flipnotics on Barton Springs, can you believe this? What kind of local coffeeshop does this b.s.?
Very uncool and unethical, I'm not supporting this place any longer...

Weak signal...Posted by Josh (www) at 2:25pm January 30, 2004 Flag This

Just trying to use the wireless and it's coming and going, not working too well. Kind of annoying!

This is my 3rd time hooking in at Austin Java...the connections are always good. However, they need to do a better job of cooling the place, always seems at a constant warm temp...and power outlets are at a minimum.

I worked for half a day using their wireless access and had no problems except for sending mail through my mail client. My only complaint was the hard chairs (seems a common theme among most places i have been) that made my rear sore after a time.

Wireless is backPosted by Dano at 3:37pm August 10, 2003 Flag This

The Wireless box had failed a few days ago. They now have a replacement system and wireless is working again.

I've had problems connecting with an Airport-enabled Mac. PC users there will be having no problems, while I am able to get a 4-bar connection, but can't browse the Net. Staff are of course unable to assist with troubleshooting. So...mileage may vary for Apple users. Considering Airport "just works" pretty much everywhere else in town, you may want to come here for the excellent pastas and coffee, then get your WiFi on elsewhere if it's not working.

I enjoy grabbing breakfast on the weekends at Austin Java.
Their internet connection is great. Exceptional download speed.
Although I haven't tried to connect out on the patio.
But I've used both my laptop & Palm Tungsten.
